Trend Report: A/W 2022/23
Our In-House Oracle
At Wanderlust Life HQ, we can count on Becky to always have her finger firmly on the pulse. Want to know what’s coming next in gem trends? Need an up-to-the-minute jewellery forecast? Listen up as our head of new product development shares the insider info covering the months ahead.
1. TRADITIONAL TALISMAN
When it comes to dressing up your digits, what’s old is new again. Looking ahead, the key piece in finger furniture will be the signet ring. “We’ve had a great response to our gem-studded signets for a few seasons now, so we’ve always been really keen to release our new engravable option for that super trad look.”
2. LIQUID METAL
Jewellery tastes are oozing into new directions with shapes that mimic molten metal. “There’s tons of liquid movement suggested in modern pieces”, Becky explains. “You’ll see more and more lava-like forms, necklaces that drape and flow, and tassels made from fine metal chain.”
3. EXPRESS YOURSELF
People’s urge to personalise their look shows no signs of abating. For the ultimate in self-expression, engravables answer the call. “We’ve been working away behind the scenes with our laser engraving machine, perfecting the process and inscribing anything and everything we can lay our hands on!”
4. WEAR THE RAINBOW
From moody blues to citrus shades, this season mixes new medleys of gemstone hues. Pile up brights like pink jade and orange chalcedony alongside deeper options like green onyx or lapis lazuli. “For colour lovers, we’ve just introduced sodalite”, Becky says, “a beautiful blue stone with the most incredible gold specks.”
4. SLOW AND SUSTAINABLE
For that feel-good factor, demand is rising for ethically and responsibly sourced materials that contribute minimal environmental impact. “We’re introducing a few pieces featuring lab-grown diamonds and opals”, Becky affirms. “It’s really cool that sustainable alternatives to mined gems are becoming available.”
