When Wanderlust Life first became a Certified B Corporation in 2024, it marked an important milestone in our journey. It recognised something we'd believed from the very beginning: that business can be a force for good. But becoming a B Corp was never the finish line.

This year, we made the decision to recertify under B Lab's new global standards - the most significant update to B Corp Certification in its history. We're incredibly proud to be among the first UK businesses to achieve certification under this new framework.

The world has changed, and so have expectations of business. Customers, employees and communities rightly expect businesses to do more than make promises. They want transparency, accountability and meaningful action.

That's exactly what the new B Lab Standards are designed to deliver. Rather than rewarding businesses with an overall points score, the new framework requires every certified company to meet independently verified minimum standards across seven key impact areas, including Climate Action, Human Rights, Fair Work and Environmental Stewardship. It also introduces mandatory improvement milestones, recognising that responsible business is about continual progress, not standing still. We believe that's a positive step forward.

As a small, independent jewellery brand based on the North Devon coast, we've always tried to make thoughtful decisions.

From responsibly sourcing our materials and choosing recycled precious metals where possible, to creating meaningful, long-lasting jewellery and supporting our all-female team of makers, we've never seen sustainability as a separate project. It's simply part of how we do business. Recertifying under the new standards gave us the opportunity to take a fresh look at every part of our business, asking where we're doing well and where we can continue to improve.

Because that's really what B Corp is about. Not perfection. Progress.

We're proud to make beautiful jewellery, but we're equally proud of how we make it. Being one of the first UK businesses certified under the new B Lab Standards tells our customers that our commitments have been independently assessed against a more rigorous framework. It reinforces that we're willing to be held accountable, to measure our impact and to keep improving. For us, that's far more meaningful than simply displaying a logo.

Our purpose has always been to pass on good energy. That means creating jewellery designed to be treasured for years, supporting the talented people who make it, caring for the places and communities around us and continuing to challenge ourselves to do better.

Recertifying under B Lab's new standards isn't the end of that journey. It's the beginning of the next chapter. We're excited to keep learning, improving and showing that even a small independent business can help raise the bar for what responsible business looks like.
