Behind The Scenes | Nomad Collection

We look back at the conception of the Nomad Collection and share our original moodboards and creative processes with you in the hope of inspiring a project or journey of your own.

We wanted to return to our roots and connect with what initially inspired us to begin our journey. The definition of Wanderlust is “a strong desire to travel’, and with that in mind we set about sharing our own personal travel experiences with those around us. A theme that surfaced most frequently was the idea of the ‘modern nomad’, someone who has no fixed location and is able to work and travel at the same time. Many of our friends and family were living this way and we wanted to know more. And so the Nomad Collection was born...

To create this collection, we aligned our intentions with the ebb and flow of the lunar cycles, channeled our own sense of adventure and gathered inspiration from across the globe. Celestial icons are a constant throughout this collection, with semi-precious gemstones chosen for their connection to travel and protective properties. The luminous transparency of the traveler’s moonstone formed the foundation of our research, while other selected gemstones offer properties to help navigate your personal journey.
‘To translate our more directional design concepts into reality, we collaborated with a traditional goldsmiths based in Birmingham's jewellery quarter’.
Becky Braley, Studio Manager @beckyroberts_makeup_artist

We wanted the Nomad campaign imagery to encapsulate the concept of the ‘modern nomad’, someone who has no fixed location and is able to work and travel at the same time. We did this by pairing each studio look with one of Ash James landscape incidentals, we then picked out a colour palette that complimented the backdrops & jewellery.

‘I wanted the styling to encapsulate that Modern Wanderers can be quite urban & yet still be connected to wide open spaces & the essence of Wanderlust. This is the reality for many of our customers’.
Becky McCormick, Studio Assistant Manager

‘I went for a understated & minimal look that compliments the jewellery & didn’t overwhelm Sophie’s delicate features’
Becky Braley, Make Up Artist & Studio Manager

‘I kept Sophie’s thick wavy hair loose & natural, contrasting with the formal styling & keeping that Wanderlust vibe’
Charlotte Bott, Hair Stylist @saltbraunton

We found our perfect model @_sophie.witt, her classic style and shared passion for minimal design made her an obvious choice for our photoshoot. Photographing Sophie was Ash James, whos photographs have had us mesmerised for the past year. Ash shot our previous collection, ‘Wear Kinship’, you can find the photographs here. To see more of Ash’s work check out his website and Instagram. We sourced props with a modern yet classic aesthetic and used a soft, washed linen as a backdrop. The shoot location (gymnasium) was chosen for the abundance of natural light and open white space. This allowed us to play with dramatic natural shadows and golden highlights.
