JoJo is the youngest daughter of Wanderlust Life team & family member Emily. JoJo’s rare genetic condition – Prader-Willi Syndrome – has severely affected her ability to walk. This cause is particularly close to our hearts. With our passion for creative living and exploring our surroundings, we want JoJo to have the same opportunity to experience the richness of life that we do.

Join us for a day of wellbeing, creativity, music & delicious food to raise funds for JoJo’s walking journey. Our all-weather event will feature an array of summer-inspired creative workshops & wellness activities in the glorious August sunshine & under the shade of a unique Baya timber frame dome. Skilled chef Jaz Lee of J.Nourish will serve a fresh plant-based lunch on the lawn whilst acoustic sounds play from talented musicians including Sophie Rose & friends. We’ll announce the complete lineup soon, including additional activities & workshops available for a small donation.

Proceeds will go towards JoJo’s trip to an a specialist intensive therapy centre in the US. Please help us lend this essential boost to JoJo’s walking journey!

Wanderlust far: A weekend in Porto

“My partner and I went to Porto and stayed in a hostel called Selina. It’s on a really old street with an entrance like a big red door to Narnia. The rooms are all stacked shipping containers, beautifully designed with cool, comfortable communal areas. Highlights of the weekend were having Asian fusion buns and cocktails at Boa-Bao and visiting the Livraria Lello bookstore. It’s got an amazing stained glass ceiling and a staircase that JK Rowling used as inspiration for the Grand Staircase at Hogwarts.”

– Becky Cardew, Senior Jewellery Maker

Wanderlust near: Close-to-home getaways

“Broadsands is a lovely out-of-the-way beach in Berrynarbor that’s perfect for wild swimming and rockpooling. It’s really secluded – to reach it, you either walk down 200 steps or rent a SUP from Active Escape in Watermouth Cove. Afterwards Storm in a Teacup is a great little cafe in a boat on Watermouth Harbour.”

– Holly Kennedy, Office/Admin Manager

“Recently I’ve been exploring Cornwall and South Devon a lot. Walking to Rame Head was amazing – a small chapel lies on the headland that’s been there since 1397! It felt incredible to stand in the archway and feel the wind in my face and see the spectacular views along the cliffs and coastline.”

– Annabelle Jardine, Retail

Wellness: 5 low-effort tips for health under the sun
  • While golden tones can be lovely, desiccated skin is rarely a good look. Customise your colour the smart way: Isle of Paradise self tanning drops.
  • The lighter the colour of your eyes, the more likely they are to burn. Your best defence is going undercover. We’re eyeing up Camley sunglasses from Cubitts.
  • Your body needs vitamin D to function, but only a handful of foods contain enough. Get 13 minutes of midday sun three times a week in the summer, and your body will produce optimal levels on its own.
  • When the sun sets late and rises early, it can be hard to get enough sleep. Our coping tips? Blackout blinds, a silky eye mask and This Works Pillow Spray.
  • Local produce is abundant at this time of year, so seek out fresh fruit and veg to cut food miles. We’ve been gorging on local raspberries, strawberries and asparagus.

To do list: 7 essentials for sunseekers
  • Watch… Plein Soliel the 1960 French-Italian film starring Alain Delon and based on Patricia Highsmith’s Tom Ripley books.
  • Eat… at Temple in Bude a sunsoaked restaurant and lifestyle shop on the Cornish coast.
  • Read… Chasing the Sun by Linda Geddes to learn about the new science of the sun and how it shapes our bodies and minds.
  • Snack... on donuts and Allpress espresso from Heartbreak Hotel, as the Combesgate coffeeshop-in-a-horsebox opens a second location on Caen Street.
  • See… the most famous sunflowers in the art world. Van Gogh and Britain at the Tate Britain explores the artist’s early years in England.
  • Smell… PF Candle Co’s Golden Coast, packed with the summertime scents of California – think salty sea air, eucalyptus, sage and white lavender.
  • Drink… at AYKA Rum Bar, our newest neighbour. When it gets too hot, you’ll find us here, sipping the Caribbean’s most cooling export. Santé!
