A quick Q&A with our Maker
If you ask Bex, the maker behind Dolce Vita, what “The Good Life” means to her, the answer is simple: sun on her face, swims in the sea, an Aperol spritz in one hand and a solid wedge of watermelon in the other. That’s the spirit we’ve poured into every piece of our latest collection: vibrant, playful jewellery designed to make every day feel golden.
Where did the idea for Dolce Vita begin?
We always start with colour. We look at jewellery, interiors, and textile trends to make sure whatever we dream up will work against the backdrop of the time. This year, yellow was huge, so we explored different shades until we found banana yellow seraphinite: it was love at first sight! Green has always been a favourite, and then we took a playful risk with a watermelon pink and found the strawberry quartz gemstone with its natural fleck. That’s when the collection really clicked – fruity, juicy, and full of fun!
How did the collection take shape?
We always balance newness with familiarity - taking pieces people love and breathing fresh life into them. When we discovered mother-of-pearl heart charms and initial beads, everything just came together. It added a nostalgic, statement touch that felt perfect for summer.
What does The Good Life mean to you?
Sunshine on my face, sea swims, Aperol spritz, and a big ole’ wedge of watermelon in my hand. It’s about soaking up the little joys in a big way – making the most of everyday moments, whatever they may be.
How do you bring that spirit into your work?
It’s all about finding joy in the small things. Making jewellery in the sunniest spot in the studio with my pal by my side, a morning coffee, a lunchtime walk, catching a sunset on the way home… (At this point, Bex stops to point out a passing chihuahua in a pink jacket!)
Do you have a favourite piece from the collection?
I love them all, obviously! But I know I’ll be gifting the LOVE necklace to a lot of my friends this summer. I’m on a mission to spread the love - I want to see as many people as possible with LOVE around their necks!
This is the first time WL has created pieces for children – what sparked that idea?
It was Georgie’s idea! Dolce Vita has such a youthful, playful feel, it just made sense. Honestly, it’s wild that we hadn’t done a Mini’s collection sooner! It’s pure joy, wrapped up in jewellery. Mitzy (Mary’s daughter) went straight for the watermelon pink when she first saw it – no surprises there!
